‘Rudranath’

The PanchKedar Yatra is considered as one of the most iconic and sacred pilgrimage as per the Hindu tradition. As the name suggests, this yatra encapsulates five distinct treks to five different Shiva Temples, built by Pandavas to atone their sins to Lord Shiva after the epic war of Mahabharata, in the snowcapped mountains of the upper Himalayas in the Uttrakhand region of the Indian subcontinent.  Shiva took the form of the bull, Nandi in Guptakashi and dived into the ground when Bheema recognized Shiva and tried to grab the bull from behind only to be reappearing out at various regions, hump surfacing in Kedarnath, arms in Tungnath, navel and stomach in Madymaheshwar, hair in Kalpeshwar, and face showing up in Rudranath.

Tungnathis the highest Shiva temple in the world at the height of 12k feet above the sea level. The Pandavas meditated at Kedarnath for salvation and performed yajna to please lord Shiva and then sought their path to heaven. As per the Gorakhnath Sect, the culmination of PanchKedar yatra happens at the Pashupatinath Mandir in Kathmandu, Nepal where the head of the Shiva is worshipped.
